1st product review:
dr.organic Virgin Coconut Lip Serum 10ml
Not only are our lips affected by the weather but they go through a lot due to eating and ed-hem, lip biting 😒
I have tried SO MANY different lip balms an
d I have spent a lot of money buying different ones to find the lip balm that meets my lip care requirements which are:
I had a really bad reaction to the EOS lip balms that took my lips to hell and back and I needed something that was going to undo the mess that EOS had done so on a trip to Holland & Barrett I came across an aisle that stocked dr.organic products and my eyes were immediately attracted to the Virgin Coconut Lip Serum. I had never used a lip serum before and I wasn’t particularly keen to but I thought I would give it a go even though it was priced at about €5 here in Cyprus.
When I got home I was eager to learn more about the company and so I looked it up on the internet and I was happy to see that their products are free from parabens, SLS or mineral oil.
The serum comes in a small tube with a pointed nozzle and I was surprised at how easy it was to use. I can only describe the consistency of the serum to be like that of an ointment (eye ointment to be exact lol) and it is a little bit sticky but not so sticky that it annoyed me; basically I can live with it ☺
I rubbed a small amount onto my lips and noted that a small amount goes a long way! I noted how my lips felt soothed straight away and I continued to apply it during the day although it was pretty long lasting after each application.
The scent is gorgeous; so coconutty and sexy! Lol I was so happy to find a product that smelled just like coconuts and not that nasty, chemical artificial coconut scent.
By the next day my lips were plump, moisturized, smooth and felt really nourished. My son had also had a bad reaction to the EOS lip balms and so I gave it to him to use and went back to Holland & Barrett and bought another one for myself. Both of our lips were healed in around 3 days and over the months I re-bought this product religiously.
I truly LOVE this products and it makes liquid lipsticks look great as they’re usually so drying and so unforgiving if you have chapped or flaky lips.
I have to admit that I am not so impressed with the fact that one of the ingredients in this serum is lanolin which is derived from animals. I do feel that considering this is meant to be an ‘organic’ company, there should be no animal products used in any of their skin items. Below you can see the full list of ingredients:
Lanolin, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) oil, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea butter) oil, Silica dimethyl silylate, Aroma (Natural), Tocopherol, Tonka bean absolute, Linalool, Coumarin and vitamin E.
2nd product review:
dr.organic Coconut Lip Balm 5ml
So one day when I went to re-purchase my beloved serum here in Limassol, Cyprus, there were none in stock 😔 and so I decided to try the dr.organic Coconut Lip Balm.
Let’s just clear this up right now; I am a coconut-anything junkie so this stuff gives me an amazing coconut high!
I liked the lip balm because it was easier to use than the serum although the serum is, of course, more of a treatment than a simple balm. Even so I feel that the balm gave me the same great results as the serum and what is cool is the balm has an SPF 15 which helps protect against UVA and UVB rays!
The ingredients are a lot different than the serum, however, which you can see below:
Ricinus communis (Castor) seed oil, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea) butter, Euphorbia cerifera (Candelilla) wax, Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, Cera alba (Beeswax), Caprylic/capric triglycerides, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) seed oil, Copernicia cerifera (Carnauba) wax, Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, Aroma, Argania spinosa (Argan) kernel oil, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed wax, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) oil, Tocopheryl acetate.
3rd product review:
dr.organic Manuka Honey Lip Balm 5ml
I was in my favourite pharmacy and my coconut lip balm was running low so when I saw that the pharmacist stocked dr.organic lip balms I decided to be adventurous and try a different scent 😜 so I picked up the dr.organic Manuka Honey Lip Balm.
Sadly, I do not like the taste or the scent of this product. It works the exact same way as the coconut lip balm but the taste is so overpowering that I could taste it when I was eating and considering I didn’t really like the scent much anyway, it really put me off using it during the day and used it only before bed so as not to waste it.
Although the most important aspect of this lip balm is that it works as a GREAT one, the scent shouldn’t turn our stomach and so as you will see further below, I haven’t given this product a good rating.
Holland & Barrett writes about this product:
Manuka has a host of properties. We ensure that the natural bioactive properties of this exceptional New Zealand oil are delivered intact and combined with a complex blend of selected bioactive and organic extracts, to help and hydrate the lips. Our moisturising lip balm also provides SPF 15 protection from the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays.

4th product review:
dr.organic Aloe Vera Cherry Lip Balm 5ml
So now I was left with having no day time lip balm and I knew that it had to be a lip balm product so I returned to my faithful H & B and seeing that they were out of the coconut lip balm (the story of my life) I picked up the Aloe Vera Cherry Lip Balm.
From the moment I smelled the cherry upon opening the top of the lip balm I was excited because it smells like real cherries! This lip balm acts just like all of the rest do and so I am happy that I have found a second favourite to my beloved coconut flavour. This lip balm contains the same sun protection as the rest and you will find the ingredients below:
Ricinus communis (Castor) seed oil, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea) butter, Euphorbia cerifera (Candelilla) wax, Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, Cera alba (Beeswax), Caprylic/capric triglycerides, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) seed oil, Copernicia cerifera (Carnauba) wax, Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, Aroma, Argania spinosa (Argan) kernel oil, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed wax, Aloe barbadensis leaf extract, Glycine soja (Soybean) oil, Prunus cerasus (Cherry) fruit extract, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil, Tocopheryl acetate.
