BY TERRY Hyaluronic Hydra Powder

I wasn’t able to find my favourite pressed powder by NARS anywhere. I had been using the Laura Mercier Invisible Pressed Powder and while it was ok, it didn’t last long and I had hit pan shortly after I had used it and believe me, I am not wearing makeup every day.

After seeing the BY TERRY Hyaluronic Hydra Powder talked about by a YouTuber I decided to order it from SPACENK, UK, for £42 and see if it delivered the claims the website said it would in the description.

Upon opening the lid I saw that there was a plastic covering glued stuck over the holes and even with the flap, I could not peel it back. I tried with a pin to coax it up but even this wouldn’t work. In the end I used a needle to put holes through the plastic covering.

The powder is very fine and when I say fine I mean ULTRA fine and for me, this is great! It is white and lightly scented and you have to put your nose to it to smell the scent but I enjoy the scent, either way.

After applying my foundation and concealers etc I tapped some of the powder into the lid of the powder and applied it to my face both with a damp beauty blender to my T-zone and then with a powder brush to rest of my face.

It felt light on my face and I was amazed that it did smooth out my enlarged pores. The real test came when I applied the tiniest bit to set my undereye concealer because it is there that I have a lot of fine lines. Sadly, it behaved the way all powders do when applied to this area, and it showed my fine lines. As soon as the smallest amount of powder is applied to my undereye area all the lines show themselves in all of their glory and no matter how small amount I use or whichever powder, the same always happens, so I cannot blame this product for not performing a miracle in this area.

After all my powders were applied and my setting pray, the finish was lovely. The powder did not override the radiance of my foundation and it did not look cakey at all. I have been using this product for months now and it still performs well, even in the tropical heat of the Cyprus summer.

I will continue to use this powder but when it is time to be replaced, I will not repurchase it due to the cost being so high for a powder that performs like those cheaper than it. It is not,for me, a holy grail product, so I cannot justify spending this kind of money for a face powder.

This is what SPACENK say about this product:

A cosmetic innovation that conceals, corrects and protects the skin. Suitable for use alone or over makeup.

Banish pores and fine lines with this ultra-fine colourless formulation designed to smooth and protect the skin for a flawless finish. Hyaluronic acid fills wrinkles and disguises pores, while silica microbeads prevent shine without drying, correcting imperfections with an invisible matte finish. Ideal for setting makeup in the daytime and light enough to be used at night before bed, this multi-tasking wonder powder conceals and cocoons the skin for a naturally beautiful complexion.

I can vouch that it does disguise my pores and smooths them out but it does not banish fine lines. I also have no idea why you would wear it before bed 😏

I would put it on par with Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush flawless finish skin-perfecting micro-powder

7b670746f988b9c2077e3faf70dc1359

which is 8g which cost £33.00 from Selfridges and I do so due to its finely milled texture, feel and finish even though the BY TERRY powder is white and the Charlotte Tilbury powder comes in 3 shades and the BY TERRY is 10g. I will put the ingredients below to compare them:

BY TERRY Ingredients:
SILICA, SODIUM HYALURONATE, TALC, DECYLENE GLYCOL, HYDRATED SILICA, AQUA / WATER, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE.
