Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

I really wanted to find a foundation that was going to give me medium coverage and a luminous finish. At the time I was wearing Lancome Teint Miracle and although this gave me a glowing complexion, I didn’t like the strong alcohol scent to it and the fact that my shade in this foundation had begun oxidizing like crazy and turning orange even though I was using a new bottle.

After trawling the reviews to see what people were recommending I decided to go for the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation as this seemed to be the no.1 choice for a luminous finish.

The main issue was choosing a shade because we don’t have this foundation here in Cyprus (as usual) so I popped over to to see what they matched me with and then over to YouTube to watch guru’s applying the same shade that had been found for me. I couldn’t make up my mind which shade I would go for so I decided to order two shades: 5 and 5.5. This way I could mix them or wear alone depending on if I had a tan or not.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation: L- 5 & R- 5.5

The first thing I did when my order arrived was to open the foundations, swatch them and smell them. This foundation has a pleasant scent. It is very faint so it is not going to get you high on chemical fumes when you wear it. The consistency is very runny which is very similar to the Lancome Teint Miracle and this shows that it is a lightweight foundation. The bottle is glass and classy and comes with a pump.

I have to reiterate that this is a light to medium coverage foundation and this means that it is not going to cover every single imperfection on your face and neither should a foundation be like a mask; it is a base and balancer for your natural complexion that is meant to even out uneven skin colours and it does exactly this. I will go more into detail about this when I make a general review on foundation types.

Because this is a light-weight, light to medium coverage foundation it is not going to last you all day long, especially if it is a hot day. This is why you need to use concealer as it should be used on the areas that are going to naturally wear away as the day progresses, either to nose blowing (me), sweating or a super-oily T-zone. Because it is buildable, you can reapply it as you wish and it is not going to look cakey or patchy. This foundation also works well under the various setting powders I have used. What I love about this foundation (among many things) is that it dries to a slightly matte finish so this means that although it is luminous, your face doesn’t look or feel oily and greasy.

I must say that this foundation offers a beautiful glowing finish and your skin still looks like skin so therefore your complexion looks natural. Like all my foundations, I apply this with a Beauty Blender for an even and skin-like finish.
