My Anti Aging Skincare Routine

I am always interested in what skincare routine other people have, especially by women my own age or older than me as it opens up more products for me to research and try! Because of this I thought I would share my own current skincare routine as it may help someone trying to put together their own.

Please remember that I am not a dermatologist so if you do choose to follow my regime, please research the ingredients in the products first and always do patch tests in case you experience an allergic reaction.

Age: 41 (nearly 42)
Skin type: Combination, very oily T-Zone
Concerns: Large pores on cheeks close to my nose and between my eyebrows, fine lines around my eyes, lines between my eyebrows, some sagging (😱) and some wrinkling on my neck.

IN ORDER

Morning:
*Wash my face with Sebamed Face and Body Wash for Sensitive Skin or Bioderma Sensibio Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel
*Tone my face with Mavala Clean & Comfort Caress Toning Lotion for dry skin
*Timeless 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid
*Timeless Matrixyl 3000
*Manuka Doctor Age-Defying Eye Cream (it’s more like a serum)
*Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturizing Gel
*Eau Thermale Avene Spf 50 Cream for normal to combination, sensitive skin.

Night:

*Manuka Doctor ApiNourish Hydrating Facial Cleanser or Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser (I use a very soft face cloth)
*Wash my face with Sebamed Face and Body Wash for Sensitive Skin or Bioderma Sensibio Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel
*Tone my face with Mavala Clean & Comfort Caress Toning Lotion for dry skin
*NIOD Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate
*Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Retinol for dry skin (only on my neck and chest)
*Obagi Tretinoin 0.05% Cream, 5 nights per week
*Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser for Normal/Combination

Specialized Skin care:

Once a week I exfoliate VERY gently with
*Clinique 7 Day Scrub followed by
*Clinique Pore Refining Charcoal Mask on my T-Zone and
*Korres Avocado Mask on the rest of my face and neck or
*Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask

Once a week I use a glycolic treatment such as
*Paula’s Choice Resist Weekly Resurfacing Treatment 10% AHA.

On the days that I perform my specialized skincare routine I do not apply my Tretinoin cream. Instead I replace it with my Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum with Retinol for dry skin. On my glycolic acid night I only use the NIOD eye serum and Liz Earle moisturizer around my eyes.

How I apply my Tretinoin Cream

Again, PLEASE remember that everyone has different skin and their skin has a higher or lower tolerance to certain products than mine. I have been using Retinol for many years and this has built up my skins tolerance for the 0.05% Tretinoin cream. Do not copy what I do with my Tretinoin if you have not been advised to by a certified dermatologist.

After I have applied my NIOD eye serum to my face and my Paula’s Choice Antioxidant serum to my neck and chest I wait around 30 minutes to an hour for them to soak in and then I apply my Tretinoin cream to my face, under my eyes and the front of my neck. After another 30 minutes to an hour I apply my moisturizer.

Now maybe some of you are wondering why some of the products I use are for dry or sensitive skin. Most face washes strip the skin of all of it’s oil and I really hate to do this as it pressures my skin to overproduce sebum. My dermatologist also told me never to use harsh cleansing products for the same reason. She also told me not to use muslin facecloths that comes with some cleansing balms as they create little scratches on the skin which damages the skin’s top layer and also allows bacteria to enter into these scratches. I do not really have spots (zits) but bacteria can create other nasty things. No matter how oily your skin is you just need to get it clean, not rip it to smithereens 😝The skin on your face is a lot thinner and more delicate than the skin on your body so you really need to be gentle with it.

I also use dry antioxidant serum because I only use it at nighttime and it has an oil like consistency compared to the combination serum which is a gel. I want it for antiageing so the oil helps plump up my skin.

Makeup Days

I do not wear makeup every day but when I do I miss out the serums and just

*Facewash
*Tone
*Obagi Spf 50 Sunscreen
*Liz Earle moisturiser under my eyes

And then apply my makeup. To take off my makeup I

*Clinique Take The Day Off™ Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lip
*Comodynes makeup remover wipes for dry skin on my face
*My cleansing balm mentioned in my nighttime routine
*Facewash
*Tone

And then apply my nighttime routine products.

I THINK that is about it!!!
